We’re here reporting from BlackBerry Live in Orlando, Florida where we just had a chance to check out the freshly announced BlackBerry Q5. The device will launch this summer around the globe and is aimed at emerging markets and sits at the lower-end of BlackBerry’s smartphone portfolio.
Even still, we really, really like the keyboard on the BlackBerry Q5. It’s not as sturdy feeling or robust as that on the BlackBerry Q10, but it was really easy to type on during our demo. Likewise, the 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 2GB of RAM allowed it to keep up with the BlackBerry 10 operating system just fine. Our only gripe is that it doesn’t offer HDMI-out as the Q10 and Z10 do, but it’s still a really solid performing and looking device, even if it’s headed toward emerging markets.
The Q5 will be available in a variety of colors, too, something that fans of the Z10 and Q10 aren’t being treated to. It’s going to launch in black, white, gray, red and, yes, even pink. Check out our gallery below and brief hands-on video with the Q5 embedded above.
